Michael Pilot
President, Sales & Marketing, NBC Universal

Michael Pilot was appointed President of Sales & Marketing in December 2006. Pilot has overall executive responsibility for all areas of the company’s television networks advertising sales and marketing efforts. He reports to Jeff Zucker, President and CEO of NBC Universal.

Pilot came to NBC Universal from the Equipment Finance Group (EFG), where he had served as President and CEO since January 2004. A unit of GE Commercial Finance, EFG is responsible for providing financing solutions for all types of equipment for businesses, with a focus on the manufacturing, services, transportation, and construction industries. Under his leadership, EFG grew its assets more than 50% to $25 billion and doubled net income to nearly $500 million. A widely recognized expert in utilizing information technology and creating analytical processes to drive sales productivity, Pilot was featured in a September 2006 Harvard Business Review article titled “The New Science of Sales Force Productivity.”

He began his career in sales at GE Capital in 1984 as a marketing support specialist. Over the following 22 years, he assumed a variety of sales management and senior leadership positions at GE. These include vice president of global sales for GE Information Services, where he oversaw a $500 million sales and services organization; president of GE Capital Small Business Finance Corporation, one of the nation’s largest SBA lenders; regional manager for GE Capital’s Commercial Equipment Financing business, where he was responsible for managing a $400 million portfolio of commercial equipment leases; and vice president of sales for GE Industrial Systems, where he was responsible for directing the commercial activities of GE’s $4 billion electrical products and services business.

Pilot was appointed a GE officer in 2002. He was the 2004 recipient of the Chairman’s Award for Growth, an honor bestowed annually by GE Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt on the company’s most outstanding growth leader. He is a 1984 graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in business administration and management. Pilot lives in Connecticut with his wife and two children.
